Son Of Perdition
(The Prophecy By The Scriptures)
First; what does 'son of perdition' mean? Perdition means... to perish; Calling someone the son or father of something in Israel at the time of Christ (and indeed in some cultures today) is to put that thing on them. So then; son of perdition means... one that will perish: The son of death; a dead son. Do not worry about who he is; worry about what he is. He will be a religious figure, an imposter of Christ! Easy to see!
In the ancient Greek (from the manuscripts)...
G684, apoleia (ap-o'-li-a)
From a presumed derivative of G622; ruin or loss (physical, spiritual or eternal): - damnable (-nation), destruction, die, perdition, X perish, pernicious ways, waste.
In Second Thessalonians chapter two it is written, “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?”
Why is this prophecy so important? The church was teaching that Jesus returns any moment: The apostle Paul (in no uncertian terms) corrects them! There are many today that throw that correction to the ground; (the falling away.) The apostle Paul begs us to get it? Because there is a set up by deceit to trap the many into worshiping the son of perdition, the antichrist. Antichrist means, instead of / imposter of Christ. Some teach that this has already happened: They teach that it was the Roman general that destroyed Jerusalem in 67 A. D.
That cannot be; for the church was just beginning and not falling away: Also the Roman general did what Roman generals do and did not deceive anyone into believing he was God. Indeed, if he had claimed to be any kind of god; under Roman law, he would have lost his head! Let no man deceive you by any means! Of course we gather to the Lord; But not until these things happen first. That is the warning from the apostle Paul!
Some try to make confusion by the Word of God with this scripture from Revelation 3:10, “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” The word keep here does not mean to be taken out of the world. It means to note a prophecy; to keep unmarried. You see, many will spiritually marry the false one because they would not listen to the prophecy by Paul. Here is the word keep as used in the ancient Greek it was written…
G5083 τηρέω tēreō tay-reh'-o From τηρός teros (a watch; perhaps akin to G2334); to guard (from loss or injury, properly by keeping the eye upon; and thus differing from G5442, which is properly to prevent escaping; and from G2892, which implies a fortress or full military lines of apparatus), that is, to note (a prophecy; figuratively to fulfil a command); by implication to detain (in custody; figuratively to maintain); by extension to withhold (for personal ends; figuratively to keep unmarried): - hold fast, keep (-er), (ob-, pre-, re) serve, watch.
Blessed are they that wait for the Lord! So then, seeing that the false one comes first, it would be quite a set up to deceive many into believing we gather to the Lord first… If you see these things sound an alarm; tell as many as you can, you might save a soul from the trap. Rise up with a shout you watchers on the wall! Sound an Alarm!
Peace In Christ;
